Conventional Analog Circuit Simulators

Berkeley SPICE, originator of a large family of products
http://www-cad.eecs.berkeley.edu/Software/software.html
Berkeley software catalog:
http://buffy.EECS.Berkeley.EDU/IRO/Software/Catalog/
Available free. Operate under UN*X OSes and DOS (with some restrictions).

XSPICE, Georgia Tech Research Institute
http://seal-www.gtri.gatech.edu/xspice/
For more information on XSPICE's facilities, see the paper
http://seal-www.gtri.gatech.edu/xspice/xspice.pdf
Available for low price (handling). Capability to add custom models.

SPICE OPUS  is a circuit simulator with optimisation utilities. It is a recompilation of the original Berkeley's source code for
Windows 95/98/NT and Linux operating systems. Georgia Tech Research Institute's XSPICE mixed-mode simulator was
added to the Berkeley code.
http://fides.fe.uni-lj.si/spice/
Free.

SCEPTRE (System for Circuit Evaluation and Predicition of Transient Radiation Effects) is a general purpose circuit analysis program, which provides all three major analyses, AC, DC, and transient analysis, on either linear or nonlinear networks.
Announce about SCEPTRE can be found at  http://www.psych.mcgill.ca/perpg/stds/rk/linux-announce.html#toc-89
And SCEPTRE itself + documentation at ftp://novilux.fh-friedberg.de/pub/sceptre_linux/
Free.

Commercial Spices and Spice like simulators.

Harmonic balance simulators

Berkeley HARMONIC BALANCE PROGRAM  (formerly Harmonica and Spectre) not free, but not expensive  Frequency Domain Simulator for Nonlinear Circuits.
http://buffy.eecs.berkeley.edu/IRO/Software/Catalog/Description/harmonic.balance.html

HABALA - HArmonic BALAnce Simulation Program. Windows and Linux executables are free. Sources are available for fee both in Fortan/C (originally) or in pure C (converted using f2c converter).

NEW! HbFree now at SourceForge: http://hbfree.sourceforge.net

Commercial Microwave simulators, suites

NEW! Rincon Harmonic Balance VHDL-AMS Simulator
http://www.rincon-eda.com
Rincon is a Harmonic Balance and Modulation Harmonic Balance circuit & system simulator. It uses VHDL-AMS with frequency-domain extensions as circuit description language. That allows to use behavioral modeling of components and blocks to perform simulation.
Free version available. Registration required. Site also contains a bunch of example and publications on topic and organazed as community portal.

Aplac, Aplac Solutions Corp.
http://www.aplac.hut.fi/aplac/
http://www.aplac.com/
APLAC is a general purpose nonlinear circuit, system, and electromagnetic FDTD simulation and design program. The main analysis modes are DC, AC, linear and nonlinear noise, transient, oscillator, multitone harmonic steady state, switched  capacitor, small signal mixer, steady state transient, and thermal feedback. Includes large set of microwave models: microstrip/ stripline/ suspended substrate microstrip.
APLAC includes several optimization methods: exhaustive search, genetic, gradient, conjugate gradient, minimax, Nelder-Mead, random, simulated annealing, tuning (manual optimization) and gravity center (design centering).

Agilent EEsof EDA - formerly HP EEsof, http://www.tmo.hp.com/tmo/hpeesof/

Serenade,  Ansoft, http://www.ansoft.com

MMICAD Waveform, Optotek http://www.optotek.com, http://www.optotek.com/timedom.htm
time domain transient analysis simulator. Not harmonic balance - rather SPICE like. But directly intended for Microwave and RF simulation.

Microwave Office 2000, AWR -  http://www.appwave.com/products.html. A complete nonlinear ("Nonlinear Suite") design solution for RF & Microwave design. Includes harmonic balance simulation, Volterra series, linear, noise and EM analysis in a single integrated environment.

Linear Simulators

This section should be separaterd, as concerned to linear circuit simulators. But later.

ViPEC was inspired by the Touchstone (tm) circuit simulator from HP EEsof.
